Dr. Dorothea Helmer has a strong background in chemistry and is a
creative mind and talented organizer. She has acquired a total of € 2 million
in public funding, with a total of five PhD students and one postdoc in her
group. Dorothea is an expert in science communication, winning several FameLab
and ScienceSlam competitions.
Dr. Frederik Kotz is a talented and visionary engineer, who has envisioned and developed the Glassomer® technology in the laboratory. He wrote a total of seven scientific papers on his technologies within the three year period of his PhD thesis. This includes two papers in Nature , one of the most prestigious scientific Journals, restricted to the most relevant novel discoveries worldwide. His groundbreaking work resulted in his winning a total of nine prestigious awards for his discoveries including the Deutsche Studienpreis2019 for the most important PhD thesis of societal impact.
Prof. Bastian E. Rapp is a skilled engineer and at only 38 became a full
professor and the head of the NeptunLab at the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK,
University of Freiburg). Bastian is an exceptionally creative mind: so far, his
ground-breaking ideas have secured him more than € 12 million in grant money. He is also an expert in
patent writing, with 10 granted national and international patents as well as
25 national and international patents pending on his list.
M. Sc. Patrick Risch is a skilled chemical engineer and started his career at Glassomer® with his award-winning Master Thesis on special property glasses and is constantly improving the Glassomer® processes and materials in the lab. He is in charge of Glassomer manufacturing and R&D and has been working on the technology for four years, constantly increasing his manufacturing know-how.
